Displaying synonyms
For many dictionary entries you can see words with related meanings, permitting you to
extend your vocabulary or to express yourself with greater linguistic variety.
- If synonyms are stored for an entry, the function Synonym appears in the display of the
entry above the central soft-key.
- Press the central soft-key, Synonym, to display the synonyms.
- Press esc to return to the dictionary entry.
NOTE:
The list of synonyms includes more detail in italics to help delimit the meaning. This informa-
tion must always be seen in the light of the corresponding key word entry, in order to find a
translation that matches the appropriate meaning.
Repeat selection of the last entry you looked up
The Hexaglot Attaché stores a list of the key words for the last 50 dictionary entries, from
where they can be recalled straight away, even if the device has been switched off in the
meantime. The key words in this list are sorted according to the order in which they were
consulted, so that the most recently opened entry in in the first position.
Press the left display key History, to re-display one of the last entries. If you are not yet in
the start screen of dictionary mode, press TRANS first and then the History display key.
Select the required keyword with the and keys.
Press enter to open the entry. Using the middle display key Favorite you can put an entry
from the list into your list of favorites to use the term in Learn mode.
If you do not wish anyone else to see the last words you looked up, you can delete the
entire list at the press of a button. Simply press DELETE whilst the list is open. To confirm
the deletion press Y. The list is then permanently deleted. f you wish to exit the list without
opening an entry, press the left display key Back, esc or one of the mode keys (e.g.
TRANS for the dictionary), to enable another function.
Adding dictionary entries to a personal vocabulary list
You can add a headword from the dictionary to a personal list of vocabulary. To do so,
press the key FAVORIT whilst the display shows the headword. The headword of the cur-
rent entry will then be put into your personal list of vocabulary.
TIP:
Acceptance of the word is either automatic or must be confirmed according to the Diction-
ary configuration. You can view the entries in your personal list of vocabulary in Learn
mode, re-order and delete them and use them to learn vocabulary. More detailed informa-
tion is available in the Learn mode section.
14. Learn Mode
The Hexaglot Attaché offers an extensive Learn and test mode which you can use to prac-
tise words you have looked up in the dictionary, pre-prepared and self-prepared lists of
vocabulary.
Press MENU and select Learning from the menu.
